§01 About · why we exist

Why we call ourselves “The Zero State”.

// definition: zero_state

In software development, the “Zero State” is the screen you see when a system is brand new. No data. No infrastructure. Just a blank canvas waiting to be built.

We chose this name because that is exactly where we meet most of our clients.

You might have a great local business and an active Facebook page, but digitally, you are starting from scratch. No website, no automated quotes, no booking pipeline. You are operating in a digital zero state.

We step in to build the architecture that takes you from an empty screen to a system that works while you do.

§01.1 The anti-template approach

Most local businesses are trapped in slow, bloated WordPress templates that turn customers away before the page even loads. At The Zero State, we build custom static sites from scratch. We optimize every line of code to guarantee maximum speed, ironclad security, and a digital presence that actually converts local foot traffic in Gauteng.

// stack diff — what comes out, what goes in

  • A page builder plus a dozen plugins, each one its own update and its own way in
  • Megabytes of theme code you never asked for and cannot remove
  • Shared hosting that slows down when the neighbours get busy
  • Hand-written HTML, CSS and JavaScript — nothing loaded that isn't used
  • Static files on a global CDN, served at the same speed to every visitor
  • HTTPS and security headers set up on day one, not bolted on after a breach

Stop operating at zero. Let’s build your system →

TNT Security Systems

Low-voltage systems integrator · South Africa

A multi-page site for a security installer who fits CCTV, electric fencing, gate motors, alarms and access control. Their four service disciplines are broken out so a visitor can find their own problem quickly, installer credentials and the workmanship warranty sit up front where they build trust, and every route ends at the same place: booking a site survey. An equipment store section runs alongside it.
